Republican Candidate Forum State House 14

Laurens County Republican Party is sponsoring a Candidate Forum for State House 14 Special Election. (Rep. Mike Pitts has retired, and this election is to fill his seat.) All four Republican candidates are confirmed: Stewart Jones, Grant Blair, Scott Horne, and Michael Seymour. Candidates will have 10 minutes to speak then 5 minutes for questions, which much be submitted in advance to our Moderator, Keith Tripp, at [email protected] The event will be held at Laurens YMCA, 410 Anderson Drive, on Monday Feb. 4th from 7-8:30 pm. Candidate Forum Municipal Elections Laurens and Clinton

There are 13 candidates in contested races for mayor and city council seats in Laurens and Clinton. The election will be held on March 5. These races are all non-partisan. Laurens County Tea Party is sponsoring a Candidate Forum/Meet and Greet on Thursday Feb. 21, 2019 from 7-8:30 pm at the Laurens YMCA, 410 Anderson Dr. All 13 candidates have been invited to attend. Confirmed candidates include: Clinton Mayor Bob McLean, Laurens Mayor John Stankus, and Nathan Senn, Candidate for Laurens Mayor. Candidates will each have 2 minutes to speak, then we will have a “meet and greet” where voters will be able to speak with candidates individually. Refreshments will be served. January Laurens County Tea Party Meeting!

Laurens County Tea Party will be meeting on Jan. 17th at 7 pm at Laurens Library, 1017 W. Main St. Guest speakers are Sen. Danny Verdin and Rep. Mark Willis. We will also be presenting outgoing Rep. Mike Pitts with an Appreciation Award for his lifetime of service to our community. The community is invited to attend!

November Laurens County Tea Party Meeting!

Laurens County Tea Party is meeting on Thurs. Nov. 15th at 7 pm at Laurens Library, 1017 W. Main St. Come learn about Summit Classical School: Learn how Summit is leading the way in education using classical education to promote virtue, freedom, and American Exceptionalism! Join us on Thurs. Oct. 18 @ 7 pm at Laurens Library, 1017 W. Main St. Guest speaker: Candace Carroll, Americans For Prosperity Grassroots Director. AFP focuses on economic freedom. Ms. Carroll will be sharing about the organization, who they are and what they do, as well as discussing how Laurens County Tea Party can benefit. AFP also offers many excellent trainings, from grassroots activism to understanding debt, capitalism, educational freedom, Saul Alinksky tactics, and much more! You won’t want to miss this!

School Board Candidate Forum!

Laurens County Tea Party is hosting a School Board Candidate Forum. All District 55 Candidates for School Board have been invited. (District 56 candidates are all running unopposed.) The Forum will be held at the Laurens YMCA, 410 Anderson Dr., from 7-8:30 pm on Thursday Sept. 20th. Each candidate will have 5 minutes to speak then 5 minutes for questions. The public is invited!

Laurens County School District Consolidation Debate!

What are your thoughts about Districts 55 and 56 being eliminated and consolidated into one school district? Come hear the pros and cons as Rep. Mike Pitts and Laurens GOP Chair Keith Tripp debate the issue! Rep. Pitts will be speaking in favor of school district consolidation. Mr. Tripp will be speaking against school district consolidation. Note: Neither the Laurens GOP nor the Laurens County Tea Party has taken any official position on this matter one way or the other. This is an informative venue that will allow both sides to present their case. The Debate will be held at Laurens High School in the Commons Area on Tues. July 17th from 7-8:30 pm. County Council Candidate Forum!

Laurens County Tea Party is sponsoring a County Council Candidate Forum on Thursday May 17th at 7 pm at the Laurens YMCA. All candidates for Districts 1 and 5 have been invited. Ted Nash is the District 1 incumbent, and he is not running for re-election. There are 4 candidates running: Adam Howell (confirmed), Susan Thackston (no response), Ryan Thorne (confirmed) and Kemp Younts (no response.) Keith Tollison is the District 5 incumbent and he has not responded. There are two challengers, Jeffrey Carroll and Dale Mitchell, both of whom are confirmed. Please submit questions to [email protected] Each candidate will have 5 minutes to speak and 5 minutes for questions, which will be asked by the moderator. Everyone is encouraged to attend!
