Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania Santorum served in the U.S. House and in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate’s third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.

-          championed pro-life legislation that banned partial birth abortion & supported

the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act” & the “Unborn Victims of Violence Act”

 

**Immigration

–supports enforcement of existing laws, the construction of a barrier along US-Mexican border, and the use of National Guard Troops along the border

–Opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants

–English national language

 

**Health Care

–opposed to Obama Care and advocates its full repeal

–supports free market solutions and tax-free health savings accounts

 

**Global Warming/climate change–energy

–called global warming “patently absurd”

– opposes cap-and-trade legislation

– supports all manners of energy production, including increased oil/natural gas exploration.

 

**Foreign policy—National Security

–seeks reinvigorated intelligence gathering

–need to promote our core values of freedom, equality and democracy abroad

–need to stand by Israel and expand humanitarian aid

–supports “don’t ask, don’t tell”

 

**Economy—Job creation

–reduce the size and scope of a government that stifles job creation

–change current tax code as follows:  Cut the corporate tax rate for domestic manufacturers from 35% to 0%, repatriate foreign income at a 5% tax rate, and increase the R&D Tax Credit from 14% to 20% permanently

**Federal Reserve –supports an audit of the Federal Reserve Bank, but does not support ending the Fed. He supports returning it to single mandate of controlling inflation.
